Pot Used In Poker

Ante in poker is the compulsory deposit that every poker player will have to make in to the pot before the dealing is done.  If there were no ante, there would not be a starting point for the betting.  The ante breaks the starting trouble issues associated with starting up with the betting, and also this kind of ante in poker is a measure to make the blinds fold if they are not holding a good hand.

Those that have donated to the ante have invested in the pot already.  Every next move will call for an investment.  And anyone that is smart enough will not hang on to protect their ante in case their hand had a poor standard, they might simply fold.  However, there are many yet that keep hanging on to playing just to protect their forced bets despite holding bad hands, and these people are the underdogs!

The initial motive of making in an ante is to keep every player to make actions smartly.  If someone is playing for free, they will act foolishly because they are not going to loose anything.  Having invested in ante brings in a sense of playing responsibly in any player, better than if they have not invested.
